Hope Groups are our way of connecting and sharing life with each other. It’s a way to encourage each other to greater love and good works. We have a ‘come as you are’ atmosphere of acceptance while knowing God never leaves us where we are, He’s always challenging us to grow in Him.
WHO WE ARE: our gospel given identities
in our Hope Groups we seek to encourage one another in who God has made us to be and in how that works itself out in our lives
-
We’ve been adopted into God’s family and are children of the living God (Gal 4:4-7). Church is not a place or event, we are people who have been saved by God, transformed into His image and brought together as His body. That changes how we view life, possessions, time and purpose (Acts 2:42-47). The gospel causes us to love God’s family and live like family in an individualized culture. Rom 15:7, 1 Pet 3:8, 1 Cor 1:10, Eph 4:1-3
-
We are a people whose love for God grows as we realize how terrible our sin is against the backdrop of God’s grace making us more willingly to obey Jesus (Rom 6:17-18). Because of what Christ has done by coming, rescuing and renewing us – we become increasingly compelled to not live for ourselves, but for Him. The gospel causes us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind and strength. Gal 2:20, Rom 12:1-2, 1 John 5:3
-
We pursue God’s mission in His power, dying to our selfish ways (2 Cor 5:14-15). The Bible says we are ‘witnesses,’ missionaries sent by God into the world to announce the good news. We no longer view loving others as optional; it is part of who we are… our new identity. The gospel causes us to love, bless and serve others, becoming God’s light in Omaha and making disciples of Jesus. John 20:21, Matt 28:18-20, 1 Cor 5:17-21, Acts 1:8.
WHAT WE DO: our Hope Group rhythms
learning about God and those around us by hearing God’s Word and their stories
as we hear from God we seek to share with others ways we can obey Him better
acknowledging God’s grace and experiencing community while we enjoy good food
we strive to share meals with each other, and people in our neighborhoods & workplaces
serving people in and outside church in ways that communicate love and care
we work towards finding ways to intentionally bless others regularly as a group
thanking God for His many gifts and His mercy to us through celebration and a good time
in order to develop gratitude we want to be intentional about celebrating both big and small things in life
