Children's Ministries

AWANA is an acronym for  Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from 2 Timothy 2:15 of the Bible. The goal of AWANA is to teach students about the love of God, so that these students would come to know, love, and serve Jesus Christ as Lord.

 At Hope we offer Awana clubs for many ages, including

  • Puggles
  • Cubbies (ages 3-4)
  • Sparks (Kindergarten -2nd grade)
  • Truth & Training (3rd grade - 6th grade)

Students in grades 7th and 8th may choose to complete the Trek material independently, and high school students may choose to complete the Journey material independently.

 AWANA meets on Wednesday nights from 6:30 to 8:15 during the school year. We open with the Opening Ceremonies, which include the Presentation of the Flags, reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and the AWANA Club Pledge, singing the AWANA Club song, and saying the AWANA Club verse, 2 Timothy 2:15.  We then split off into our various clubs: Cubbies, Sparks, and T&T.  We rotate with group teaching time, individual one-on-one time with a leader to review the lessons learned that week, and game time.  Some weeks we have special events and Theme nights.

The focus of the curriculum is on the presentation of the gospel and Scripture memorization.  For each student, the components of the program include:

  1. a handbook that allows each child to learn at their own pace;
  2. a uniform shirt or vest, and;
  3. awards that are earned as the student successfully completes the requirements of a section of the handbook, usually including Scripture memorization.

Sunday School

We believe that children are a gift from God! In order to help them know Him personally, we provide childcare in our Nursery for children through age 2, and age-graded classes for children age 3 through 6th grade during the Sunday School hour (11:15-12:15 p.m.)

We begin the Sunday School hour with a time of worshiping in song, followed by class time for Pre-K, Kindergarten through 2nd grade, 3rd and 4th grades, and 5th and 6th grades.

The curriculum is designed to teach at their level what each child can understand, and the teachers seek to make the truths of God's Word apply personally to each of your children.
